Baby Blue

By Emily, from Independence.

I have wanted my belly button pierced since I was like 14.

When I was 17, I went and got my lip pierced on the right side, and I still have it. Now.. a year later, I’m 18. I have been begging someone to take me to get it done. I approach my mom and she won’t take me. She is very strongly against me piercing anything. But, after a day walking around bugging her, she took me to the shop called “freaks”.

I went in, and started to process immediately. I filled out the form, showed them my id, and picked out the jewel. I chose blue of course. I went in the room, and my mom went with me. She admitted she was a bit of a perfectionist and we redid the ink placement a few times.

She had me lay down. My mom was teasing me that I was gonna cry. I took a deep breath, let it out and she pushed the needle through. No clamp or anything. Then, I took another breath, let it out and she put in the jewelry. That happened to be the most painful part of the piercing, but it really wasn’t bad at all. Just a slightpinch.

I stood up and looked at it. I loved it. I paid her, and she gave me instructions to soak it in saline. For the first four days, it was not painful at all, it is just now getting sore. I’ve only had it since Monday and today is Saturday. It’s a bit red and there is the seeping starting to happen. It’s more painful now than it was earlier.

But I do adore my piercing. I have always loved them. I think piercings express people. I have been discriminated against because I’m just a ‘rebellious’ teen. I have my ears pierced twice, my cartlidge twice, my lip, and my belly button. But, I have straight A’s and I don’t get in trouble. So, I think those views are very false.

People with piercings aren’t any different from those who aren’t pierced. anyways. I love it. I would recommend that if you want it done, go for it. just be safe, and keep it clean! =] Great experience.

Impulsive, But No Regrets!

I just got my belly button pierced yesterday!

I was so excited to get it done because I had been thinking about doing it for a couple weeks. I was also a bit nervous…mainly because my parents would kill me if they knew about it. That’s why I had to wait until I turned 18 to get pierced.

I chose the studio because it is easy to get there from where I work. One of my coworkers got his lip pierced there and I also read up on the studio online to make sure that it had a good reputation.

When I decided to get my piercing, it was Monday and I showed up with a couple friends. However, it turns out that Monday is the one day the piercer is off work (it’s a tattoo and piercing shop)! I was pretty sad, but decided to come back on Wednesday.
So I did! I came in with the same group of friends. The piercer is so nice! She knows what she’s doing and has over 10 years of experience. She was really calm, which definitely helped with my nerves! Also, she easily answered all my questions. Her demeanor helped calm me down so much. It was also cool to look at all the piercings she has. You can tell this is something she loves.

Before the actual piercing, she marked the piercing site with a toothpick with some ink on it (not the marker itself because that would transmit bacteria). She asked if that looked okay and showed me what kind of jewelry would be best to use.

Finally, I laid back and my friend held my hand and then it was over! She only used one needle and it was quick and painless. It felt like someone was pinching me. That’s all!
I didn’t look when she pierced it, because I was afraid I would flinch or something and screw everything up.
She told me about the salt-water soaks and all that before she actually pierced it and informed me about how I could make my own solution. After she pierced it, she gave me a pamphlet that had all the information she had told me. I swear I could have skipped out of that place; I was so happy 😀
My piercing doesn’t hurt at all. I’ve been cleaning it and following the guidelines, so I hope it will be okay!

Belly Piercing Story

Well i have wanted my belly button pierced since i have been 13 but of course my parents wouldnt agree to take me…

But sure enought two days after i turned 18 i went to get it done!

My parents had gone out of town to see a football game so it was perfect timing. I was quit nervous that day but it all worked out.

On that rainy saturday my boyfriend had planned on taking me out for a birthday dinner along with the piercing. I got more and more nervous as i got closer the the tattoo shop. Finally we got there and I told the lady what I wanted and she had me fill out some papers and pick out which ring i wanted.

Next thing knew i was sittin in the chair watching this guy get ready to pierce me. He put the clamp on and i looked away as he stuck the needle through(Which i didnt feel at all!).

About a half minute later he said your done! It was so fast i didnt feel a thing. I was so happy as i ran out to show my boyfriend who was waiting in the front room. As we left i was so excited i almost slipped on the icy deck! 🙂

Its been a month since i got it done and its healing great and of course i told my parents and they didnt mind! All in all it was worth the time and money i love it so much!
