Hi I’m Ginger I was 17 going on 18 teen years old in a couple of weeks so one night I had this dream that me and my friend met at a race track and show off our new belly button rings to one another.

So the when I wake up the next day I was like “man I want to get my belly button pierced” so I ask my mom and she said “it’s not a good idea because you could get a infection and it will make you look bad”.

I just kept on bugging her and then finally she was like okay “I’m fine with it. Let me talk to your dad and see what he says”. So the next day she tells me that dad says it’s okay because I’m about to turn 18 in two weeks.

So I jump up grab a phone book and start looking through the phone book for body piercing shops in Louisville and finally I found one called Body Art Emporium.

I went there and man I was nerves and so this guy sits me in a dentist like chair and tells me how to take care of it while he is getting every thing prepared and so then he tells me to stand up so he can mark the hole.

Then I sit back down he clamps me and then tells me to take a deep breath in and blow out then he sticks the needle through and it just felt like someone pinched me and then I payed him.

I have had my belly button pierced for five months know and man I love it! I think belly rings are so pretty and I bought my first four belly rings at BodyJewelryFactory.com

Dizzy? Light headed? Belly piercing is sometimes followed by such symptoms

September 2007, Dian, Carlinville, United States

I’m 20 years old and I just got mine pierced yesterday.

I went to a local shop that has an extremely good reputation. I’m a bit of a germaphobe so I made sure to ask him about how he cleans the instruments used and if he used a new needle every time. It turns out my piercer was a germaphobe so everything was extremely clean, thank God!

Anyway, he began the piercing and got through the first layer of skin, but apparently I have tough skin and he had a lot of trouble piercing the top layer. He had to adjust his grip and apply a lot of force. I must admit…it hurt. But I can take pain so I got through it with a few muttered ows.

But then I started getting light headed, hot, and sick to my stomach. When I tried to stand, I almost passed out. I spent the rest of the day on the verge of passing out or throwing up. It was terrible.

But today I feel fine and I love the piercing. But if someone had told me it was going to such that much, then I probably wouldn’t have gotten it done.

Double navel piercing

2 years ago I begged for a belly piercing and surprise, surprise my mom said YES. I didn’t think she’d say yes because i only was 15 at that time.

Some days later my parents and I went to the piercing studio to get my belly pierced. I was afraid it could hurt, but it didn’t. I was so happy!

It looked beautiful but I thought something’s missing but it took me again two years to find out what it was.

Now I know it, it was the second one which was missing. So now I got a second one about a week ago in the same piercing studio.

Now I got one up my belly button and one under it. It looks great but this time I think it’s going to be the last one on my belly button…

How Allison from Malaga, Spain got her belly button pierced – it can’t hurt thay bad, can it?

July 2007, Allison, Mijas, Malaga, Spain

Well I’ve just today gotten my belly button pierced! I’ve wanted it for a while now, and all my friends have it so I decided to just go for it.

I was walking past the shop and I thought, it cant hurt THAT bad, can it? So I went inside and chose which one I wanted…etc.

I was petrified. But she put me at ease and just told me to breathe and relax. There was no way I wanted to look at the needle though! I’ll be honest, it hurt. Not in a scream and cry kinda way though, its hard to explain.

The bit that hurt the most really was the clamping bit at the start. But when she did show me the needle when shed finished I thought I was going to pass out!

But I’m in love with it now, it’s fine. It looks so pretty and really suits me. I’m actually proud of myself! I never thought I’d have the guts! 😛 But it was worth it!

Self navel piercing once…then again…then done properly in a piercing shop!

July 2007, Chelsea, Jonesboro, United States

So I had to beg my mom to let me get my navel pierced for four years!! LOL she said “no” of course.

So when I got to the 9th grade I said screw that I want it done so I attempted to do it myself. It looked infected because it was done with a safety pin. So I took it out. Then a few months I tried again it was too far off to the side.

So the summer before my senior year in high school,(I was 17, state law in Ms you have to be 18) I went to visit my older brother in Greenville.

While talking about tattoos and piercings the subject it came up again, and he said he would take me to get it done and I thought he was playing.

So about a week later the day of his big 21st birthday bash we happen to go to the mall where there was a tattoo and piercing shop nearby. It was closed, for remodeling. Luckily one of the guys that does piercings in the shop was next door in another store. So he told me to pick out a ring and we went in the back to the piercing room.

My brother had to hold the plier things. The guy pierced it after cleaning it and getting everything set up. I tried to sit up and look at the needle while it was in my stomach because I really wanted to see it, but the guy told me that I shouldn’t try to sit up with the needle in there.

LOL ( I was curious) It didn’t hurt and I am the biggest wimp when it comes to needles. But my brother said he did see my eyes get big when the needle went in my stomach.

My bellybutton was now officially done at 5:15 eastern time on July 22, 2006!! I remember everything. As follows my mom and dad found out in September and were not happy. But I didn’t care because it was something that I really wanted and I never ask unless its strictly something that i really wanted. So I turned 18 in November and got a tattoo just curious bout how it felt it didn’t hurt.

Navel piercing with baby on lap!

Navel Piercing With Baby On Lap - Claudia from Quebec, Canada

Hi!! I’m 27 years old and I am a mama of 3 kids. I’ve got my belly button pierced almost 8 months ago.

I’ve wanted this for like 12 years so I was really happy about it!! It didn’t hurt, in fact I got it pierced with my baby girl trying to get on my lap!!Lolll.

The piercing lady was very careful and professional. I got it pierced a different way, instead of having it up on my belly button I got it pierced under it. Its very cute and sexy and I love it!!!

It’s not easy to find barbell that fits cause I always have to turn it upside down but it’s worth it cause it’s different. I’m gonna get pregnant again next fall so I’m gonna have to get one of those special pregnant belly button piercings.

I hope I won’t have to take it off but if I have to I’m gonna have it pierced again after the birth of the baby!!!

Belly button pain – what if it hurts during the piercing process? Is the whole thing worth it?

June 2007, Jean, Singapore

Belly Button Pain - Jean's Belly from Singapore

Well, I just pierced my navel a week ago. I wasn’t desperate for a navel piercing though. Just wanted to pierce something.

My brothers brought me to a piercing studio after my countless pleas. However when I reached the studio was closed. So I had no choice but to go there the next day, alone.

When I entered there were only 2 guys with lotsa piercings and tattoos chatting in the shop… Felt kinda weird to be there cos Singapore’s not really the place where many people have piercings and tattoos… Don’t know why. But yeah. I chose a blue curved barbell, signed the papers… Went in.

For me, my piercing hurt. I don’t suppose that’s rare or normal. My piercer did not numb my navel like what some shops do. Maybe he’s a rookie or something. After telling me about the aftercare and whatever, he marked… Then clamped… The clamp was a little uncomfortable. But not a problem.

When he finally started piercing my navel, I could feel my flesh tearing apart as the needle went in. Then he took my barbell and inserted it. That was the part where I really felt pain. I have no idea why. I didn’t cry or shout. It was just painful.

I stood up feeling rather giddy. Looked at my navel and walla! Fell in love. Walking after that made me feel a little queasy. It felt kinda weird cos it’s as if I injured my navel (tell me what are the chances of people injuring their navel in daily life? real low!).

The few days after that were fine for me. No infections. Only occasional soreness cos of my active lifestyle. However, recently school had started so I had to wear my uniform. My skirt has a waistband that keeps irritating my navel piercing. my navel now is fine… there are some pus coming out probably due to the irritation caused by my waistband. However it doesn’t hurt much. So yeah. I’m satisfied with my piercing. It’s worth the pain. =)

Erin gets pierced by the coolest piercer in Stevens Point, Wisconsin

But her boyfriend plays with the new piercing till it becomes infected!

June 2007 Erin Wheeler, Stevens Point, Wisconsin

Well I first got my bellybutton pierced over my Christmas break of 2006 with my new roommate from college at Flesh Chamber West in Appleton, WI (which at the time was on a Wed. so I got the piercing for only $15.00 !! along with my nose at the same time for another $15.00.)

I had to lay down on a table with my girlfriend sitting by my side the whole time. The guy who did it was SOOO much fun, he made me feel so comfortable and relaxed about it. When it was time for my belly he told me to “start stripping and I will tell you when to stop,” he was the coolest.

My boyfriend at the time thought it was so HOT that he did not stop playing with it every time I saw him, even though I told him to stop and let it heal. Did he listen…nope! So of course as much as I cleaned it, that didn’t help.

It got infected so then after taking it out at about five months and letting it heal for another month, I went and got it repierced in June of 2007 at a place called Rocky’s in Stevens Point, WI. That cost me about $20.00.

At this place however I had to sit/lay back in a chair and the guy didn’t even tell me it was happening so the guy whom I was with just laughed at me when I turned and yelled at the piercer for not given me a heads up.

It seems funny now, but at the time it hurt worse than the first one!! So I am hoping now that things will be better the second time around. So far they are looking up and looking GOOOOD 🙂

Ayshe’s navel repiercing story – piercing done by a doctor isn’t the best…

Ayshe’s parents are doctors and her father’s best friend does the piercing…and does it wrong!

June 2007 Ayshe (Turkish Delight), Famagusta, North Cyprus

Hi there this is Ayshe from Famagusta, North Cyprus (the island between Turkey and Egypt).

I am 14 and I just got my belly button pierced yesterday at a piercing studio by a pro. Well my story’s kinda complicated actually.

When I first saw a navel piercing (thanx to Britney Spears)I fell in love with it and I was only 8. Since then I kept on telling my parents how much I wanted it and would take really good care of it. My parents are both doctors and they were totally against the idea of their daughter having a ‘hole’, they’d like to call, in her belly button.

But in time my mother was OK with the idea, but there was my dad. It took us 2 years to convince him. All my friends knew how much I wanted it, I couldn’t stop talking about it. But when 3 of my best friends got permission from their parents and got their belly buttons done, I was really upset and thought it was not special anymore.

On the 7th of May, 2007, I got it done at my father’s best friend’s clinic. I know, how could they possibly let a doctor do it for me ? The doctor had done it the wrong way, it was not straight (slightly to the left) and the hole was thin. The next day I went to a pro and showed him my piercing.

When he told me it was so wrong and if I didn’t take it off it was going to fall off in maximum 4 years, I wanted to take it off but I was scared that my parents wouldn’t let me pierce it again.

I loved it, it was like a part of me but I just had to take it off. So I took it off and I waited for about a month for it to heal, and finally yesterday I went to the BEST ( =D ) piercer in Famagusta with my mum.

I thought it wasn’t going to hurt because it didn’t the last time, but it kinda hurt because the old one hadn’t healed properly. After he pierced it, he told me everything I should and should not do in order to take good care of it.

Now that I’ve got my belly button piercing done correctly, I don’t think I’ll ever take it off. First of all I think it looks really nice and I know this sounds weird but it’s like my baby, it’s like a part of me !

I’m so glad that I have it and I don’t think I’ll ever regret piercing my belly button !!!

Cheerleader belly ring – it’s really hot!

A girl gets a belly ring and has a few months to heal it before the competitions start

May 2007 Dylann, Calvert City, Kentucky

Alright…the actual decision process of getting my navel piercing took an entire year.

First of all, I was 13 years old and I was ready to get it done-well at least that’s what I thought…But my parents did NOT approve of me getting it done at such a young age, and they were skeptical about it clashing with sports; I was a cheerleader at my high school and did a competitive squad. I took consideration of what they said and waited.

Then, in April I brought it up again, this time both my and I wanted to get it done together for my birthday. Our parents said it was okay now that I was just doing the competitive squad and I had a few months for it to heal before competitions started which will be this September:) and I am very excited.

cheerleader belly ring

My friend and I, with our mom’s went around the area looking and asking about places to get it done, and we finally decided on a place we knew was clean, and followed all the KY state laws/requirements. They thoroughly explained the process and we set up an appointment, which we were extremely eager about!!!

Finally, the day arrived, I’ll admit I did have butterflies. I sucked it up, though 😉 and went first! To my surprise, it did not hurt as bad as I thought it would. When it was done, I was hella excited! It looked amazing, I was proud of it.

Since then, I have tried my best to keep it clean and to take care of it-which was stressed many times at the parlor-and it looks great.

Now, a little over a month later, I had got to thinking about what I would wear during cheerleading competitions, so I found this helpful website and sent an e-mail (I am not allowed to have visible body jewelry of course, and our uniforms show the entire midriff) and I got a reply, and a good website referral as to where I could get a retainer. (A clear, plastic replacement for the navel jewelry). Might I add, is perfect! So I definitely had to get the right size gauge and order one!:) I am so thankful that I found this site!
